Hyperbolic manifolds, critical exponents and amalgamated products
For a compact hyperbolic manifold whose fundamental group is amalgamated
over a subgroup C we give a lower bound for the critical exponent of this
subgroup and study the equality case. This result extends a previous result
by Y. Shalom. It is based on a new construction of volume-contracting maps.
