Seminar on vector bundles

Prof. D. Kotschick: Seminar on vector bundles

  • Time and place: Wed 10--12 in B 251
  • Summary: We will study vector bundles. After some basic introductory material we will cover K-theory up to the proof of Bott periodicity (in the complex case), and then delve into the theory of characteristic classes.
  • Intended audience: Master and PhD students of mathematics and/or physics. The seminar is suitable as a continuation of my topology course last year, and as a complement to Mathematical Gauge Theory II.
  • Prerequisites: A basic knowledge of differential and/or algebraic topology, including cohomology theory.
