I spoke on The extraordinary spectral properties of radially periodic Schrödinger operators
at the Goa Workshop on Schrödinger Operators , held in Goa (India), 14 to 20 December 2000.

I was also an invited speaker on Some open problems and new tasks in applied mathematics
at the Symposium on Challenges in Mathematical Sciences for the New Millennium , held
in connection with the International Conference on Recent Advances in Mathematical Sciences
at the Department of Mathematics of the IIT Kharagpur (India), 20 to 22 December 2000,
where I also talked on The true catenary - a case study for modern applied mathematics

I delivered a talk at the First SIAM-EMS Conference Applied Mathematics in Our Changing World
(2-6 September 2001) in Berlin, Germany, on Simulation of the mechanical behavior of the human mandible.

I gave a talk in the Séminaire de physique mathématique of the University of Geneva (Switzerland) on
The extraordinary spectral properties of radially periodic Schrödinger operators
on 17 September 2001 at 10:30 in Aud. 234, 24, quai Ernest Ansermet.

This talk was also given in the Joint Analysis/Probability Seminar of Imperial College, King's College,
Queen Mary and Westfield College and University College, London (U.K.)
on 15 November 2001 at 15:00 in Room 521 of the Mathematics Department of King's College.

In the framework of the SOKRATES program, I gave a series of lectures on Introduction to the lambda-calculus,
Computer representation of real numbers and The Tower of Hanoi: recursion, algorithms and graphs at the
Computer Science Department of Cardiff University, Cardiff (Wales, U.K.)
from 8 to 13 November 2001.

During the Taller sobre operadores de Schroedinger/Workshop on Schrödinger Operators,
which was held at the IIMAS of the University of Mexico-City (Mexico), 3-7 December 2001,
I delivered a series of lectures on
Self-adjointnes s of Schrödinger operators, Spectral properties of radially periodic Schrödinger operators, and
Hardy-Rellich inequalities.

I gave a talk on Delocalization for Schrödinger operators
at QMath-8 (Mathematical Results in Quantum Mechanics),
held at Taxco (Mexico), 10-14 December 2001.

I delivered a lecture in the EURROMMAT-Programme of the Centre for Advanced Studies in Mathematics
at the "Simion Stoilow" Institute of Mathematics of the Romanian Academy in Bucharest (Romania)
on Localization and delocalization for differential operators on 20 March 2002 at 10:00.

I also talked on Delocalization for Schrödinger operators
at the 2002 UAB International Conference on Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics,
held in Birmingham, Alabama, 26-30 March 2002.

I gave a talk on Delocalization for Schrödinger operators
at the Workshop on Computation and Analytic Problems in Spectral Theory
on Friday, 26 July 2002 at 10:30 in Gregynog, Wales.

I talked on The (re-)unification of mathematics
at the ICM-2002 Satellite Conference on Mathematics Education,
in Lhasa (Tibet, China), 12-17 August 2002.

I also presented an invited short communication on Localization and delocalization for differential operators
at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Beijing (China),
on Friday, 23 August 2002 at 17:35 in room R3030.

I delivered a colloquium talk with the title
The Hanoi connection: Chinese codes, Italian pavements and French puzzles
at the Faculty of Education of the University of Maribor (Slovenia) on 21 October 2002.

I presented a talk on
Quantitative sonography for bone material
and co-authored a talk on
Simulation of the elastic behaviour of the human mandible:
experimental validation and material parameter identification

at the Conference on Modelling and Simulation for Computer-aided Medicine and Surgery
at INRIA Rocquencourt (France), 12-15 November 2002.

I gave talks on Spectral properties of differential operators
and The Hanoi connection: Chinese codes, Italian pavements and French puzzles
on Tuesday, 7 January 2003, at Beijing Normal University (BNU) in Beijing, China.
The former talk was also delivered on 10 January 2003 at Nankai Mathematical Institute in Tianjin, China,
where in addition I presented short addresses on the Tower of Hanoi (at the Nankai Research Center for Combinatorics)
and some topics in applied mathematics. On Monday, 13 January 2003, I talked at BNU on
Introduction to Lebesgue integration and on Teaching reform in Munich universities

I gave a talk On the essential spectrum of self-adjoint operators in the Minisymposium
Analytic and Computational Problems in Spectral Theory at the
ICIAM 2003 -- 5th International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics
in Sydney(Australia) on 7 July 2003.

I gave a talk on Turm von Hanoi: Geschichte und Mathematik
in the Neuropsychologisches Kolloquium of the LMU on 13 May 2004, 16:00 to 17:30,
in the seminar room of the Neurologisches Forschungshaus, Marchioninistr. 23, Munich.

I gave a talk On the accumulation spectrum of self-adjoint operators
at The 2005 UAB International Conference on Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics,
in Birmingham, Alabama (U.S.A.), on 2 April 2005.

I was an Invited Speaker at the first Workshop on the Tower of Hanoi and Related Problems,
held from 18 to 22 September 2005 in Maribor (Slovenia).
The subject of my talk was The Tower of Hanoi - a personal (re)view .

I gave the Andrew F. Sobczyk Memorial Lecture at Clemson University (Clemson SC, U.S.A.) on 24 October 2005 at 18:00 in Room 119 of McAdams Hall; the subject is The Tower of Hanoi .

On the occasion of my visit to Clemson I also talked in the physics colloquium on 26 October 2005 at 16:00 on the Catenaria vera - the true catenary in room 101 of Kinard Lab. and in the Algebra & Discrete Mathematics Seminar on 27 October 2005 on Hanoi graphs in room M102 of Martin Hall.

at the IIMAS of the UNAM (Mexico City, Mexico) on 3 November 2005, 12:30.

I gave a couple of lectures at the workshop An lisis y F¡sica Matem tica held at the CIM of the UAE Hidalgo in Pachuca (Mexico), 4 to 6 January 2006.

I supervised workshops on ``The Tower of Hanoi'' at the ``Tag der Mathematik'' 2006 and 2007 at the LMU Munich (2006-07-08, 2007-06-16).

The poster has been awarded a Second Prize in the ICM 2006 Poster competition.

I delivered a public lecture on Der Turm von Hanoi at the Audi-Center in Ingolstadt (Germany) on 20 January 2009.

At the symposium La Tour d'Hanoi, un casse-tete mathematique d'Edouard Lucas (1842-1891), held in Paris (France) I spoke on Le modele mathematique de la Tour d'Hanoi on 5 February 2009 in the Institut Poincare.

I talked on Drei offene Probleme in der Spektraltheorie von Schrödinger-Operatoren at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Duisburg on 19 January 2010.

I gave a public lecture on Der Turm von Hanoi - Graphen weisen den rechten Weg in the frame of the lecture series Mathematik am Samstag on 20 March 2010 at 14:15 in lecture hall A 021 of the main building of the LMU Munich, Geschwister-Scholl-Platz 1.
